Join Ofer Sharone, the ICT Staff, and playwrights Kate Marple and Melissa Bergstrom, as we’ll explore the complex role work plays in our lives and reflect upon and share our own stories. Whether you are working, in transition, or new to the job market, come for a day that harnesses the power and the freedom that comes with owning and sharing your story.
We’ll kick off the day with our founder, Professor Ofer Sharone, who will provide an update on his current research on work in an ever-changing economic environment, the current employment landscape, and findings from recent ICT Collaboratory programs.
Then we will take a deep dive into the connection between work, well-being, and self-esteem through the power of story.
How do you feel when you are asked:“What do you do?”What’s the story you tell? How does the job you are doing (or not doing) affect how you value yourself? Does it affect the way you connect with others?
Guided by playwrights Kate Marple and Melissa Bergstrom, we’ll explore the complex role work plays in our lives and reflect upon and share our own stories. Kate and Melissa will share excerpts from their innovative and captivating documentary Big Work as a jumping off point for discussion and personal storytelling. Big Work, based on personal interviews with individuals across the United States, is a modern-day meditation on the American Dream. Through the stories of everyday people, the play brings to life questions at the heart of what it means to be human. What matters most to me? How do I want to be perceived? How do I balance all the pieces of my life? What do I want to leave behind?
