Wednesday, April 25, 2018: Career Theories

Location: McLeod Suites, 3rd floor (Curry Student Center)

Time: 8:30am - 12:30pm 

On April 25, 2018, the CCC will be holding a general meeting on Innovative Career Theories (Northeastern University, Curry Student Center 3rd Floor).  Each of the speakers will spend 45 minutes introducing their topic and conducting an interactive exercise related to their topic. The agenda will be:

8:30 am:  Registration and Breakfast

9:00 am:  Introduction/Announcements

9: 15 am:  Mo Chanmugham - Design Thinking

Mo Chanmugham, Esq., CPCC, ACC is a former attorney turned career coach and founder of MGC Coaching where he helps ambitious professionals create more fulfilling careers. He also serves as the Senior Associate Director of Career Services at New England Law | Boston.   

10:00 Amy Mazur - Relational Counseling

Amy Mazur is a Career Development Specialist and Counselor Educator who has been working in the field for over 20 years, and who assists individuals to begin, renew and advance their careers. Her expertise includes educating, training and mentoring professionals in career and workforce development on using counseling skills to foster growth and change. Prior to her current work in private practice and as Lead Career Counselor at JVS CareerSolution in Boston, MA, Amy worked with the Women’s Educational & Industrial Union and the Career Counselor’s Consortium. She also taught at Lesley University’s Graduate School of Arts and at Boston College’s Lynch School of Education. As Co-Chair of the Advisory Board at the Institute of Career Transitions, Amy’s most recent work focuses on the effects of self-blame on the long-term unemployed professional.

Amy received her Master’s of Education from Harvard University in Counseling & Consulting Psychology, and her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan. She is a National Board Certified Counselor (NBCC), and is a member of the National Career Development Association (NCDA), the association from which she received the Master Career Development Professional (MCDP) designation.

11:15 am: Kim Childs - Positive Psychology 

Kim Childs is a Boston-area certified life and career coach specializing in Positive Psychology (aka the “science of happiness”), creativity, and midlife transitions. She’s also a former NPR news reporter and Kripalu yoga teacher who’s been leading Boston-area workshops on Positive Psychology and The Artist's Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity since 2002. As a writer, Kim's work has been featured in Chicken Soup for the Soul, Natural Awakenings magazine, the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, Wholebeing Institute, Grub Street, and her blog, A Pilgrim on the Path.
