This workshop is designed for career counselors who are seeking to expand their professional toolbox.

In the workshop you will learn:

  • About your Top 5 Strengths and how to apply them to make your sessions even more productive 

  • How to use the CliftonStrengths assessment to help your clients leverage their career and job search.

The benefits of using CliftonStrengths in career counseling are two-fold. First and foremost, an awareness of strengths benefits the counselor in knowing how to leverage his/her dominant strengths in accordance to those of each client.  Second, having insights into the client’s strengths will allow the counselor to consider how each of the client’s strengths can be applied to the various steps of the job search process.

The CliftonStrengths assessment looks at how people get things done, influence others, build relationships and process information.

Using this assessment, practitioners will be able to help clients leverage their strengths to identify specific ways to:

  • Stay motivated to complete necessary job tasks

  • Communicate effectively as they navigate their job search

  • Gain confidence to build and leverage necessary relationships

  • Organize and prioritize information to make great career decisions

In this workshop, you will dive deeper into your own top 5 Strengths to be able to apply them to counseling conversations.

You will learn how to help clients: 

  • Analyze job postings for fit

  • Identify the company culture & work environment in which they will thrive  

  • Conduct informational interviews through the lens of their Strengths  

  • Craft branding statements and stories for interviews that will give clear evidence past relevant successes connected to their strengths

  • Manage  their challenges through the job search process to not get discouraged

  • Make intentional career-related decisions

  • Increase self confidence

About Anne:

Anne is an Associate Director in Employer Engagement and Career Design at Northeastern University as well as a certified CliftonStrengths and Strengths Profile coach. She enjoys coaching individuals, groups and teams towards identifying and achieving their goals. Collaborating with Anne, her clients learn how to focus on their individual strengths in order to maximize their personal and professional potential. Anne’s unique approach provides people with the tools they need to experience a paradigm shift in how to explore new possibilities, and re-imaging their goal-setting. Her two teenage daughter, husband and dog fill the unscheduled hours in her day.

About Svetlana: 

For over 8 years Svetlana has been in private practice coaching professionals who feel distressed or dissatisfied with their current occupation. With Svetlana’s help, the clients make their jobs more meaningful and fulfilling by accepting their uniqueness, leveraging their key strengths and aligning their life with the core values. Svetlana holds ACC credentials from the International Coach Federation and a Master’s degree in Journalism.  In her free time, Svetlana writes fiction novels, where she explores how people can unlock their unique strengths and use them for the greater good.
