PART I FOCUS: The Process of Discovering and Branding Who You Are At the Intersection of Your Multiple Professional Identities

PART II FOCUS: How to Guide Others in Revealing The Unique Value that Lies at the Intersection of Their Multiple Professional Identities

There are three types of professional identity in the workforce, and until now, we've been stuck in a binary of singularity (experts) or multiplicity (generalists).  Hybrid professional identity is the third type, and it involves the integration of multiple work identities. By examining the intersections between professional identities, workers are able to reveal their full selves and communicate their unique value when compared to others with similar job titles and labels.

For people who feel stuck in their career path, pigeonholed as one type of worker, or fraught in an effort to niche down and specialize, they may be hybrid professionals and not know it. By giving people permission to integrate their work identities together, not only do they feel more empowered, but they also finally see who they really are and how to apply their gifts.

Through my research and one-of-a-kind process, workers learn to convey why and how their work identities fit together and what that means for their career goals.

In this two-part workshop, I’ll take you through my process so you can experience it for yourself. Then we’ll spend time unpacking it and understanding how you can use it with your clients. I’ve been studying the efficacy of my process by working with diverse individuals and small groups across industries. As a result, I believe unlocking a person’s hybrid professional identity is the foundation of shaping their purpose, passion, and ability to navigate their career.

Key takeaways from this two-part series:

  1. Understand the difference between hybrid professionals, experts, and generalists
  2. See why hybrid professionals are critical to the workforce
  3. Know what employers and talent managers need to consider when attracting, hiring, and retaining hybrids
  4. Experience my five-part process to discover, define, and articulate who you are at the intersections of multiple professional identities
  5. Gain my top tricks to use when coaching and supporting a hybrid professional in their career development
