In this roundtable, Psychologist, Natasha Torkelson, will be presenting and leading a discussion for career services practitioners to identify and work with clients who are struggling with mental health challenges, including best practices around depression and anxiety and identifying when it’s appropriate to refer clients to trained mental health counselors. There will be an opportunity to discuss this topic with Natasha and with your peers. We hope to see you there!

About Natasha: Dr. Natasha Torkelson is a licensed psychologist and the Assistant Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Suffolk University’s Counseling, Health and Wellness Center (CHW). Natasha completed her PhD in Counseling Psychology at Boston College and her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University. She specializes in working with students of color, and other minoritized identities, with a particular focus on mental health stigma, as well as aiding students in understanding the impact of culture and oppression on mental health, and navigating racial trauma and the racial identity development process. She also is a supervisor and a member of the training team in the predoctoral training program at Suffolk’s CHW. Natasha also has years of experience providing teaching, consultation and training around diversity issues, and engaging in equity and social justice advocacy. As a professional, Natasha works from an empowerment-oriented, social justice & systems perspective aimed to center the lived experience of those with whom she works as well as increasing awareness about the impact of inequity and oppression at the systemic and institutional level.
