Special Train-the-Trainer Event:

Brought to you by the Work Intervention Network (WIN)

Presenters: Amy MazurDavid Blustein & Ofer Sharone

Location: Virtual (a Zoom link will be sent to you a few days before the event, after registration)

Date: Wednesday, September 27, 2023

Time: 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm ET

Please Note: The workshops for which participants will be trained to facilitate are designed to be used by career coaches/counselors who have experience in working with groups and in providing supportive work-based interventions. More specialized training in mental health is not needed to deliver these workshops. A manual is also provided.

At the outset of the pandemic, a group of 10 vocational/counseling psychologists, career practitioners, and a sociologist convened to discuss the unemployment crisis. The team concurred that the challenges evoked by the massive job losses require comprehensive and flexible sources of support and skill building.

Focusing on the psychosocial/systemic issues facing job seekers today, and building on the excellent services that are already available via employment and career transition agencies, training programs, and independent providers, the WIN team designed six 75-90 minute workshops that can be used in tandem or independently to support individuals who are unemployed, underemployed or experiencing a career transition as they search for work. Topics include Deepening and Sustaining Relationships, Fostering Social Awareness and Reducing Self-Blame, Building Emotional Resilience and Self-Care, and Planning, Exploring, and Engaging in the Job Search.

The intention is to disseminate this workshop content as widely as possible at no cost to workshop facilitators, agencies, providers and participants. Accordingly, new trainees are encouraged to share these workshops with others with the stipulation that you do so at no charge to participants.

This free 2-hour virtual training will provide you with an overview of the Work Intervention Network (WIN) and the workshop the team has created for job seekers/individuals experiencing career transition. While it is not a step-by-step training, the WIN Team will provide you with information and will review the manual and what you can expect when you facilitate the WIN workshop. The goal is to have participants walk away with the "taste and texture" of WIN and the workshop model that has been developed, so prospective facilitators are comfortable facilitating the workshop  to those who would benefit.

Sponsored by Work Interventions Network (WIN): Pan International Collaboration of Practitioners and Researchers on Unemployment and Underemployment in conjunction with CCC.  To learn more about the Work Intervention Network (WIN), the WIN Team and the workshop modules, visit www.bc.edu/win.
