In today’s career management environment, LinkedIn has assumed equal importance to the resume. In fact, often the LinkedIn profile is the first image seen by recruiters, network contacts, and potential employers. For career professionals, it can be a challenge to write (or guide clients in writing) unique and interesting profiles that reveal both qualifications and character—the skills and experience that are needed plus the style and attributes that signal a great fit. In this session, we’ll delve into many different ways to tackle this challenge.
Topics to be covered:
- Examine the differences between resumes and LinkedIn profiles
- Explore a variety of approaches to compose meaningful LinkedIn Headlines
- View sample About sections and practice translating “resume speak” to LinkedIn language
- Learn multiple methods for writing Experience sections that are different from (but consistent with) the experience section of a resume
- Review format techniques that work with LinkedIn’s limited formatting capability
- Assess additional sections of the profile that can help distinguish your clients from the competition
Using ideas and content from her recent books, including Modernize Your Resume (2rd Edition), Expert Resumes and LinkedIn Profiles for Managers and Executives, and Modernize Your Executive Job Search, Louise will provide the most critical and up-to-date information to help career counselors and coaches guide their clients in creating powerful career marketing messages.
